A random walk through life or musings of a disturbed mind

Random, unbalanced is the way of the world (universe). just like some playing in teams but acting like idividuals online. life is discontinuous and so is science/knowiedge.

Simple, all the tech we research are considered sensitive pieces of information, government secrets if you will. When planets are invaded, we hit the servers storing the blueprints with an EMP pulse, and send a self-destruct signal to all pieces of technology affected by the research. Like we would need to do that anyway, the orbital bombardment would've taken out any buildings that would've held that info in the first place.

Random and unbalanced may be the way life works, but that doesn't always make for a fun gaming experience. I play a game to have fun, not to experience the frustrations of life. If someone made a first person shooter, and there was no way to save, and the game uninstalled itself the first time you were killed in the game, it would be more realistic, but it wouldn't be all that fun. That's why I never understood why the Sims is so popular. I get up, go to work, come home, work out or play a computer game, eat, take a shower, and go to bed. And I buy a game where I play as a character who gets up, goes to work, comes home, works out or plays computer games, eats, takes a shower, goes to bed....huh?

Arguments from realism have no place in a game.

Ships need to spin along a central axis in order to simulate gravity.

Stars should be much bigger than planets.

Faster than light travel shouldn't be possible. It should take weeks to get from one planet to the next.

You shouldn't get the benefit of new research with old ships, especially not instantaneously.

You shouldn't be able to spawn billions of people on a planet within minutes.

You shouldn't have to research trade ports/broadcast centers/take-your-pick.

Each planet should have an elliptical path of movement around the star and their periods should all be different.

Bombarding a planet that you're about to take over with nukes is... well, impractical to say the least.

Additionally, your use of the word 'discontinuous' does not match up with any meaning that I'm aware of. It has a very specific meaning in math/science. Please explain .

It's a GAME.

It's a STRATEGY GAME.

IT'S NOT EVEN TURNED BASED.

IT FOCUSES ON AVOIDING MICROMANAGEMENT.

Your government is trying to reverse engineer completely alien technology, go figure.

The United States stole the concept for the SR-71 and the B2 from the technology we nabbed when we invaded the moon.

True story.
on Apr 24, 2008
Well we could have a spy ship that is very hard to detect and he can also steal technology.

Your mom's the size of a planet, but we've all conquered her.
